Whether you’re looking for jerk chicken or roti or seafood, there are plenty of amazing Caribbean restaurants in Toronto that are serving up some magnificent dishes. Here is a selection of four that are particularly good.
Chris Jerk Caribbean Bistro - 2570 Birchmount Road
This spot is open from 11am until 9pm every day except Sunday and it is configured like a take-out spot but has a small amount of seating if you want to eat there. Everything is good, but the simple jerk chicken with rice is something else.
Simone’s - 596 Danforth Avenue
Simone’s has been in its spot on the Danforth for a few years now, and it has insanely good grilled jerk chicken. They’ve got really good oxtail, beef patties, chicken roti and more, all inspired by Simone’s grandmother’s recipes.
Mona’s Roti - 4810 Sheppard Avenue East
Mona’s is really great, so it’s also really busy, and if you go on a Saturday you may have to wait in a line that stretches outside. And also it’s in Scarborough. It’s worth it though, for the extremely good Caribbean curry and doubles.
Allwyn’s Bakery - 81 Underhill Drive
Allwyn’s often gets thrown around in lists of restaurants with the best jerk chicken in Toronto, and it’s true. They’ve got cheap prices, really good patties, and a really great jerk chicken sandwich.
