Traditionally, being a vegan has meant certain sacrifices when it comes to food, but that doesn’t have to be the case anymore. With more and more bold and inventive vegan restaurants popping up over the city all the time, it’s no problem to grab a meal that lacks meat but has big time flavour if you know where to go. Here are three really great vegan restaurants in the downtown area of Toronto.
Vegetarian Haven - 17 Baldwin Street
Well, I mean, come on. The name tells you all you need to know. It isn’t the cheapest place to eat, but they serve great veggie meals with an Asian flair to them, and the stir fried noodles are definitely worth a try.
Greens - 638 Dundas Street W
Greens has delicious vegan Chinese food that gets it done on so many levels. The bamboo fungus soup is crazy good, with loads of crunchy bamboo inside, and the deep fried taro is amazing too.
Grasshopper - 310 College Street
Grasshopper plays to the strengths of vegan food instead of having the food suffer from its limitations. The rice bowls are delicious, and so are the tempeh sloppy joes.
